There can be a lot or a little text on one A4 page, depending on the size of the print, the amount of detail, seals and signatures. Most of the documents we translate are issued by official state institutions, so they contain security features and authentication marks. We need to include/describe these in the translated document so that the recipient, who generally only sees the translation, has a guarantee of the credibility of the output document.

Examples of security features: ink stamps and seals, security seals, watermarks, hologram stickers, security threads, heat-sensitive marks, etc.

Unfortunately, the answer is: No, you can’t. Stamped translations are certified or sworn translations, and are registered in the Repertory of Activities of a Sworn Translator, just like the deeds of, for example, notaries.

No, it isn’t. According to the law – art. 13 par. 2 “A sworn translator is entitled to (…); 2) make certified copies of documents in a foreign language, check and certify copies of documents made in a given foreign language by other persons.” According to the definition, a copy of a document does not have to contain the whole text of the document, it is however, noted in the translation.

The translator is not allowed to make any substantive changes to the document – it is a criminal offence.

The time needed largely depends on the needs of the client.

Sample lead times:

  • birth certificates, prescriptions, medical certificates, certificates and similar one-page documents – can be completed on the day of the order, or within 24 hours,
  • KRS [National Court Register] extracts – up to 48 hours.

Payment can be made on delivery. We offer the options of paying in cash, by immediate bank transfer or BLIK.

In case of larger orders, we ask for an advance.

In the case of certified translations, taking into account the welfare of the client and the reliability of the translation, the best solution is to deliver the original documents to the office. Due to various security features, some of which are invisible on a copy or photograph (e.g. embossed seals, watermarks), it is in your interest for the translator to be able to see them and describe them in the translation. You may, however, send a scan of the document and only present the original upon receipt. Yet, you should be aware that we may have to make changes ‘on the spot’ if an important element of the document was not visible on the scan. The type of document to be translated is always indicated on the translation, whether it is an original, a copy, a certified copy, a photograph or a PDF file.

This depends on the student’s level, their commitment and the number of hours of study per week. As a rule of thumb, those who are at Intermediate level (B1/B1+) can start thinking about taking the FCE exam, in which case it should take around 10 months to prepare for the exam.
